This is an introductory course aimed at staff working in imaging departments in North West England NHS trusts who wish to develop a basic knowledge/awareness in the delivery of improvement projects. Delegates will be required to apply learning to relevant QI project as part of the course. The improvement coaching sessions provide an opportunity to explore challenges and share learning with peers. AIMED AT: Both clinical and non-clinical imaging staff across a variety of professions, AfC bandings and levels of training (including Specialist Trainees in Radiology). We are delighted to invite you to the exclusive Basic MRI Course - 2nd Cohort, tailored specifically for new MRI radiographers within London NHS Trusts. This comprehensive, modular course consists of three sessions, and attendance at all sessions is mandatory for successful completion.The Basic MRI Training Programme helps new MRI
radiographers, whether they are transitioning from other imaging modality or
starting their cross-sectional (CT-MRI) work. This course teaches the basics of patient care
and helps participants become comfortable with setting up and scanning
patients.
Participants will learn key MRI concepts such as
magnetisation, free induction decay, resonance, and image contrast, along with
essential MRI equipment parts like magnets and coils.
The programme also covers MRI safety, including how to fill
out safety questionnaires, classify MRI zones, and identify potential injuries
from magnetic fields and radiofrequency.
For scanning procedures, the training includes neuroimaging
of the brain and spine, as well as musculoskeletal scans for areas like the
shoulder, arm, elbow, and knee. Participants will learn about proper patient
setup, coil selection, scan planning, and anatomy related to these scans. The
training involves hands-on experience with ScanLabMR simulator applications to
enhance learning.
